True Story

Kate came over this morning and we packed up Jake and headed for the Woodland mall in G.R. We had high hopes on our special day off of going to drool over the MacBook Air at the Apple store (and everything else in there). It's not rare that when the two of us plan excursions that everything doesn't go as planned. Today was not different.

We arrived around 10:45 a.m. and found a pretty empty parking lot by a side entrance next to Sears. After we got inside we sat down in the chairs just inside the mall to adjust the stroller, take Jake's coat off, and get organized. The mall was pretty empty. A man walked by us a few feet away and as soon as he passed we noticed another man coming from the doors we had just entered through. The second man was wearing a bullet proof vest (badge on the side), boots, winter hat, and carrying an AK 47! The SWAT team man began barking orders at the this guy, who had seconds prior walked by us, to get down on the floor. "Man, I didn't do anything, why are you pointing an AK 47 at me." (Jaws dropped) As Kate and I are confirming to each other that this is really happening and nobody else is around, about a dozen other police officers are coming from all different places. The guy gets cuffed and we quickly decided to take our precious cargo (Jake) and get out of this situation (of course we are the only people that are not wanting to remain where we were - everyone else is heading toward the mayhem).

So, I'd love to be able to provide you some closure to the this drama BUT we have no idea what would warrant an AK 47 take-down at Woodland Mall in front of Sears. Kate and I are too afraid to think about the possibilities.

To top it off, the Apple store isn't getting the Air until next week sometime.

I must also mention that the last time Kate and I went to Grand Rapids together we were eating at Mongolian BBQ and suddenly there was this huge boom and the whole restaraunt fell silent. The building across the street had an explosion and set fire.

Note to self...don't go anywhere with Tara and Kate.
